Based on the SUBARU WRX S4 AWD with a 2.0L horizontally opposed DOHC and Sport Lineartronic, the SUBARU WRX S4 tS is an STI complete car that enhances the pleasure of STI driving while adding special features to the exterior and interior. For the power unit intake and exhaust system, parts that reduce ventilation resistance have been introduced to improve transient engine torque during acceleration by up to about 10% (STI experimental data) and to increase responsiveness. Combined with the addition of an oil cooler to improve the cooling capability and thus increase the durability of the Sport Lineartronic CVT, these enhancements provide high kinematic performance.
Around the suspension, STI BBS 19-inch forged aluminum wheels, BILSTEIN variable DampMatic®II damping force suspension, and Brembo 4-pot opposed brake calipers for the front brakes have all been fitted to further improve maneuverability, and when in traction mode, the VDC and Active Torque Vectoring controls are configured with an emphasis on sports driving.When the traction mode of the VDC is selected, Active Torque Vectoring controls just the 2 inner wheels in the front and rear to further enhance turning performance, eliminate unnecessary steering operations, and improve line tracking performance especially in sports driving.
In addition, many body rigidity control parts, which are STI's area of expertise, have been fitted to achieve immediate response to steering maneuvers.
The interior incorporates special features such as the semi-aniline leather STI RECARO front bucket seats and luminescent meters adorned with the STI logo. The integration of luxury and functionality characterizes the sporty interior.
To celebrate the class victory of the SUBARU WRX STI in 2015 and 2016 in the Nürburgring 24-hour race where the model has been run for many years, an ‘NBR CHALLENGE PACKAGE’ with additional special features has also been made available.
